ABOUT
I am Stephanie Mavi Garcia Panclas.
Stephanie is a 20-year-old film student at FAU. Stephanie was raised in South Florida, where they are currently pursuing film. As a beginner filmmaker, there is a lot that Garcia Panclas faces. Their goal is to continue to learn with positivity in mind. "I like to push my boundaries and create things I love."

Totality (2023)
"Totality" was initially a project for my RTV course this past spring. This available version is submitted to my RTV course. However, I plan on releasing a full version. This film is about two queer young adults who fall in love through bonding over art. Their passion turns sour when unforeseen circumstances come around. This short story shows their bond and their healing.
Essential Elements (2023)
"Essential Elements: A Journey Through Water, Fire and Earth" was yet another project for my RTV course. The theme was "self-portrait," and I decided to be a bit creative, and rather than taking the "day in my life" route, I wanted to showcase my appreciation for astrology. In this project, I show my "Big Three" and explain those elements and how they relate to me and my life.

Josh Goes Skating (2023)
"Josh Goes Skating" was just something I wanted to put together. I don't skate, so when my friend Josh takes me to skate with him, I like to record him and his progress. I also simply enjoy watching him. One particular day we drove pretty far to this mediocre skate park, and I realized I had a lot of clips from that day. It was so fun, and a day for the books; I wanted to put the clips together just to preserve the memory a bit more.
Is it a tranquil home? Or the blue that is far, far away? (2023)
This was actually my first project for my RTV class. It was my first time using a DSLR on my own, my first time using a tripod and premiere pro. I had no experience before this, so it does hold a place in my heart. It's simple and sweet. The theme was "Spatial Abandonment," and I wanted to showcase my room so I tried to incorporate a variety of shots. Completing this short project genuinely inspired me to keep going because I felt so proud to say "I did this, by myself."
M Soup, (2023)
M Soup, (2023) by Stephanie Mavi Garcia Panclas (SMGP), is their first experimental short film. M Soup, follows the character ‘M’ played by SMGP themselves, in which they play around with appearing hyper-masculine and hyper-feminine. This experimental short film can have as many layers as there needs to be or none at all. The goal is for it to be visually confusing and jarring yet have bits and pieces of meaning.

Face (2023)
Face (2023) by Stephanie Mavi Garcia Panclas (SMGP), is their first horror/psychological thriller short film. Face, follows a character played by Vanessa Lopez, 19, in which she finds herself feeling stalked, watched, and followed. When she finally faces the stalker, things take a chilling turn.

Buscando Tesoro (2023)
Buscando Tesoro (2023) stars SMGP's mom, Fatima, as Aurora. This short film was filmed on Super8. Therefore, there is no dialogue. Aurora is an older queer woman who finds an old message from Laura. Laura tells Aurora to find something she hid a few years ago for her to have. Aurora revisits places Laura mentions, and eventually finds her treasure. Due to the 3-minute limit, SMGP did feel a bit limited, but, overall, has no regrets. A longer version of Buscando Tesoro, exploring a relationship between older queer women, would be something SMGP is interested in doing.

Another Stardust (2024)
Another Stardust (2024) by Stephanie Mavi Garcia Panclas (SMGP), an indie short film. Another Stardust premiered at the Flamingo Film Festival in April 2024. SMGP challenged herself by only using one actress, Trish Boter, one small camera, and no proper script. The film came from a vague idea Stephanie had about telling a story about someone who is alone. During a creative block, she started filming with no real plan. In the end, SMGP was satisfied. SMGP wanted to include a Filipina actress speaking her native tongue as foreign languages are usually overlooked in local film festivals.

Film Students Go To The Library
This collection of photos were an assignment for a class. This was the first time I actually felt inspired by taking random pictures in a very long time. As someone who was more into filming than photographing, this sparked an interest and a crave to take more pictures. I had a lot of fun taking pictures and spending time with my classmates.
iHeartNorton
After obsessing over film and instant film for a few months, I ran out of film! I wanted to take pictures since I hadn't in a while, and I also wanted to visit the museum. Visiting the museum with my friends was amazing. I'm also delighted I got to take pictures. I was limited because I didn't have my usual mirrorless camera, but I'm still happy with the results I got with my compact sony point-and-shoot, which I always keep on me. This has once again inspired me to take more pictures and to never stop creating.
Music
All of my music has been made and used for my films/assignments. It started off as something I needed to do, but now the process is fun as well. I plan on working some more on music in the future, but still to support my visual media.
